Finalist: Best New Community

Greenwich chosen as finalist for BILD Calgary, Community of the Year Award!

Melcor is proud to announce that Greenwich has been named a finalist for the coveted Community of the Year Award, as recognized by BILD Calgary.  The award recognizes outstanding development of a new community in areas including vision, amenities, builder parades, pageantry and environmental sustainability. 

Construction remains on track for Calgary Farmers Market West with the distinguished exterior brick façade taking form as the building envelope progresses nicely.  Construction on the brick panel exterior, windows, and roof components is anticipated to continue until around early May with the exterior site work and building mechanical/electrical to follow.

The 7,000 square foot Commercial Retail Unit adjacent to the Farmers Market is also under construction and will include Market Wines, complemented by a wonderful mix of additional retailers and services. We are excited to release more information soon!

New Park Plan in Greenwich

Check-out new park plans for Greenwich

Greenwich’s central, multi-use park will be located just north of Calgary Farmers’ Market West. The large park will be connected via the community’s many pathways.

The park will include an off leash dog-park, a community garden, as well as a playground and basketball court that doubles as a skating rink in the winter. The dog park and playground will be maintained by the City of Calgary, while the garden and basketball court/skating rink will be maintained by the community’s Homeowners Association.

We are excited to share further updates on the park, with construction beginning this spring. Greenwich offers plenty to do in all seasons with premiere spaces for meeting & connecting with neighbours.

Canmore Nordic Centre

With direct access to downtown, or the mountain playgrounds, Greenwich benefits from one of Calgary’s most enviable locations.  Amongst the many outstanding recreational facilities within easy driving distance, one of the highest in calibre is the Canmore Nordic Centre.  Developed for the 1988 Winter Olympic Nordic events, the Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park remains a world-class facility. In 2005 it was significantly renovated to re-establish itself as one of the top cross country, biathlon and mountain bike destinations in the world. The Canmore Nordic Centre is a short 5 minute drive from downtown Canmore, and 28km from Banff in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. 

February and March are usually the best months to enjoy the 65km of groomed and track-set cross country ski trails as well as the extensive single track system for Fat Biking. Trail fees are in effect for cross country skiing from 9an until 5pm with the daylodge closing at 5.30pm. Night skiing is free (after 5pm) with 6.5 km of illuminated trails. Bring a headlamp to enjoy the natural snow trails at night and the clear Rockies skies!

Our partner Trail Sports serves all your cross country skiing needs with rental and lessons. All of their cross country skiing instructors are certified by the Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors (CANSI). Trail Sports also sells cross country skis, boots, poles, nordic wax and technical clothing and accessories. Please note that online reservations are currently required for rentals and lessons.

Following Alberta Health Services guidelines, please note that the daylodge capacity is currently restricted with only limited seating for our on-site Café users. Showers and lockers are closed and masks are mandatory in all indoor premises. We highly recommend using your vehicle to prepare for your activities.

Calgary Farmers' Market

The ever-popular Calgary Farmers’ Market is well on its way to having a sibling in Greenwich. The unique retail environment will support over 70 like-minded local, regional, and national businesses that will create more than 200 jobs within the Calgary region! Calgary Farmers’ Market West will feature over 50,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space to shop, eat, connect and be entertained – all while giving you serious New York vibes mixed with that Rocky Mountain spirit.

We are pleased to share that the structural steel is nearly complete and stands out amongst the landscape while you’re driving along the Trans Canada Highway or taking in activities across the highway at WinSport. Greenwich, as perched on its envious rise at the west gateway from Calgary to the mountains, has stunning views in every direction.  From the downtown skyline and fresh sunrises to the Rockies in the west with epic sunsets, the panorama is breathtaking.  Winsport, formerly known as Canada Olympic Park, and the entire COP hill dominates the west view with an immense park and recreational drop back to border Greenwich.

Calgary’s only 4 season, full-out recreational haven for skiing, snowboarding, lift-assisted mountain biking, gymnastics, luge, bobsled, curling, and even mini-golf as a next-door amenity to Greenwich is immense.  WinSport aims to keep you ‘on the go’.  WinSport’s mission is to enable people of all ages and abilities to discover, develop, and excel at sport. Some of their latest offerings include limited winter hill ticketsski and snowboard lessons and the Tube Park for outdoor fun.

Advanced online bookings are required. Be sure to read the Winter 2020/21 update and check Covid-19 protocols before arriving. 

  • Winsport is now offering two-hour hill tickets. Tickets are $32 each (all age categories). Available for two-hour mid-day sessions on the weekend. 
  • It’s never too late to learn something new this winter, we have private lessons, multiday lessons and women’s only lessons available this season. 
  • Slide the day away in our tube park. The perfect outdoor family activity, our tube park offers thrills, laughs and will leave your family smiling.

Over the coming months, WinSport will be hosting exciting events Canada Curling events such as the Tim Horton’s Brier, Scotties Tournament of Hearts, and World Men’s Curling Championship. Stay tuned for more details from Curling Canada and what channels to watch in the coming weeks.  

Additional outdoor events may be held at WinSport and have yet to be announced. If Covid-19 restrictions ease later this year, we look forward to re-opening our arenas, fitness facilities and other venues with programs for all Calgarians.

Constructing Calgary Farmers' Market

Construction is well underway on the much anticipated 2nd location of the Calgary Farmers’ Market. Services are complete and over the winter, shallow utility installation will take place. We are now working on the building itself so watch this space in Greenwich over the next year to see it take shape.

Welcome Home!

The first residents to call Greenwich home are all moved-in and over 100 units have been sold to date! Each of our builders has moved their first homeowners into their projects, just in time to celebrate the holiday season in their new home.
